Important of Organic Farming

This program focuses on maintaining soil fertility, promoting biodiversity, and reducing environmental impact. Organic farmers use techniques like crop rotation, green manure, composting, and biological pest control to enhance soil health and prevent diseases or pests.

However, family farmers face challenges in organic farming, including the need for more labor and land than conventional farming, which can potentially lead to higher costs for consumers.

The demand for organic products has grown significantly due to environmental concerns and a desire for food free from harmful chemicals. Organic farming supports local economies, reduces carbon emissions by minimizing chemical inputs, and promotes healthier ecosystems. Kastom Gaden, a grassroots organization in the Solomon Islands, promotes organic farming by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices.
