Magazine Program on “Women Engaged in Family Farming are the Pioneer of Food Security and Nutrition”

This radio program Sonali Basati highlights the crucial role women play in family farming to improve food security and nutrition in rural Bangladesh. The focus is on two women farmers, Rabeya Begum and Ruma Begum, from Char Madraz Union in Charfashion Upazila, and their contributions to ensuring food security and nutrition at both the family and community levels.

Through growing diverse, safe, and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, these women not only meet their families’ nutritional needs but also generate income by selling the surplus in local markets, supporting their children’s education. Charfashion Upazila Sub-Assistant Plant Conservation Officer, Md. Sanaullah Azam, highlights the increasing involvement of women in agriculture across the country, empowered through training and support programs. Family farming, as mentioned in this episode, has become a powerful tool for food security, improved nutrition, and financial independence for women.
