FAO, ComDev Asia organize virtual training on Participatory Video

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, through the ComDev Asia initiative, organized a virtual training on Participatory Video (PV) among selected participants in Asia and the Pacific from 18-28 November 2024. This online training aimed to enhance capacities in video production and dialogue of practitioners committed in engaging in inclusive Rural Communication Services for sustainable agrifood systems in the region.

The modular training series was made possible through the collaboration of FAO, Digital Green, and the College of Development Communication at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Participatory video (PV) can be harnessed as an interactive tool to promote more inclusive and sustainable forms of development, mirroring local realities, and enabling knowledge sharing and informed decision-making among a wide array of stakeholders.

Aside from the  PV training, participants were also introduced to the previously-established Communities of Practice (CoP), a space for participants to share their learnings and discuss the issues they are confronted with in the production and use of participatory video. For those interested to learn about PV, the FAO has already launched a free e-learning course that offers a comprehensive guide for implementing participatory video (PV) within the Communication for Development (ComDev) approach.
