Greenovator launched the Mekong Farm app to assist farmers in the Mekong region in farm management and to connect them with agricultural experts and with each other.

Five countries in Southeast Asia make up the majority of the Mekong region, namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. These countries have undergone drastic socioeconomic changes in the past few decades yet agriculture remains critical to their development [1].

Greenovator, an agricultural technology company, discovered that farmers in the Mekong region are struggling to keep up with the demands of modern agriculture, so they developed Mekong Farm “based on a thorough understanding of farmers’ behaviors.” [2]

The Mekong Farm app has five key features [3]:

• personalized farming tips based on the farmer’s chosen crops, livestock, and/or fisheries that are available offline for ease of access;
• a Q&A platform with a smart matching system to ensure that farmers are connected to relevant agricultural experts;
• tools and resources for comprehensive farm management, including mapping tools, finance trackers, and a QR code generator for product traceability;
• a community feature where they can join groups and exchange knowledge with fellow farmers; and
• a built-in weather app that provides forecasts, alerts about extreme weather events, and adaptation tips.

The application also has inclusivity features, such as text-to-audio conversion and a dictation feature for farmers who prefer audio formats/voice commands over reading/typing [2].

To access the features of Mekong Farm, users can download the app via the Play Store or the App Store. Then, they would need to choose their country, their preferred language, their role (i.e., farmer, technician, trader, or agro-dealer shop owner), and create an account.
