FAO, UNDP to host Asia-Pacific Dialogue for IWD 2026
The FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, together with the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, commemorates International Women’s Day 2026 through a webinar titled “International Women’s Day 2026: Regional Dialogue to Mark the International Year of the Woman Farmer.” on 06 March via Zoom.
The event will bring together country offices, regional partners, and development practitioners to spotlight women farmers’ lived experiences, showcase good practices, and identify entry points for transformative action. This dialogue aims to strengthen regional collaboration and mobilize momentum for IYWF 2026 initiatives across Asia and the Pacific. By highlighting practical solutions and lessons learned, the event seeks to advance inclusive policies and investments that empower women farmers and ensure their full participation in agrifood systems.
Under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”, this year’s observance carries added significance as 2026 has been declared the United Nations General Assembly-designated International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF 2026). This declaration recognizes the vital contributions women make across the agrifood systems and calls for stronger support to address persistent inequalities facing women in agriculture.
