
Family Farming: Protecting Biodiversity Through Traditional Knowledge in the Philippines

In the Philippines, Nonito Timbang Malingay, a local farmer and member of Ubo and T’boli Indigenous Peoples in Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Mindanao, the Philippines, shares his story on how they harness traditional knowledge to strengthen biodiversity in the Philippines.
The story was selected from 273 submissions across 68 countries through the 2025 Global Call for Stories, led by FAO and its partners, celebrating family farmers at the heart of climate-resilient food systems.
