SEWA: Empowering Women for a Climate-Resilient Agriculture

Women smallholder farmers are on the frontlines of climate change, facing rising costs, water stress, poor soil health, and health risks from chemical use. SEWA understands that real climate resilience means collective action, women’s leadership, and sustainable control over resources.

Through the Building Cleaner Skies campaign, SEWA supports women farmers to shift to organic farming, clean energy, and water-efficient systems—protecting livelihoods, health, and dignity.

Niruben from Rasnol village, Gujarat, shows what’s possible. By moving to organic farming, solar precision irrigation, and biogas, she increased her seasonal income from ₹18,000 to ₹30,000 while cutting input costs to near zero. Today, she leads by example, inspiring other women to adopt climate-smart practices. Discover Niruben’s story here.
