UNDFF Secretariat calls for global meeting on Family Farming towards Sustainable Food Systems
The Joint Secretariat of the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF) is organizing a global technical meeting to tackle the implementation of its framework, two years since its inception, on 27-28 May 2021 (13.30 CET/Rome Time). UNDFF serves as a framework for countries to develop public policies and investments to support family farming and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Developmen Goals (SDGs).
Co-organized by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), this 2-day event aims to discuss and synthesize the collected information during the global consultation on how the UNDFF framework has been carried out since its launching in 2019. Titled, “UN Decade of Family Farming: leveraging on successful results to scale-up implementation towards sustainable food systems”, the event is expected to draw out the best practices, challenges, prospects; and policy recommendations for family farming towards its significant contribution to sustainable food systems. Expected to participate in this meeting are organizations and networks of family farmers; government agencies and institutions, NGOs; research and the academe, and members from national committees of family farming.
