Role of Innovation and Technologies in Resilient Family Farming among ASEAN countries

FAO, Regional Institutions, and Family Farmer’s Organizations recognized the important role of leveraging innovation and adapting digital technologies to curb the negative effects brought by the pandemic among Family Farmers in the ASEAN region.

In a webinar entitled, “ASEAN family farmers and COVID-19: Impacts, Innovations, Investments”, representatives of family farmers and development organizations discussed the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in the agricultural sector, examine challenges to food systems, and identify measures and opportunities to build more resilient and sustainable agriculture and food systems in the region.

Representatives of family farmers shared their struggles brought by the pandemic and how they find ways to overcome the challenges. Online home delivery services and utilizing social media to market their produce were some of the good practices shared during the webinar.

The online event also highlighted the value of engaging the youth sector in agriculture through responsible investment, converging multi-stakeholders actions, and policy support.

The webinar was organized by AsiaDHRRA, AFA, PAKISAMA, and FAO.
