Magazine Program “Sonali Basati” on Eco-Friendly Family Farming for Safe Crop Production with Vermicomposting

This episode of Sonali Basati focuses on the significance of sustainable farming practices that promote environmental protection and soil health using organic fertilizers and vermicompost. The program highlights the pivotal role of women in family farming. Asma Begum, a housewife and women farmer, shares her 16 years of experience in safe vegetable production using organic methods derived from livestock waste. She explains how this eco-friendly method not only helps grow safe, pesticide-free vegetables but also generates additional income for her family. Asma Begum mentions that, in addition to fulfilling her family’s nutritional needs with safe vegetables, she sells the surplus produce for extra income. 

Farmer Abdul Kuddus shares his insights on combining chemical fertilizers in proportion with organic fertilizers and vermicompost to improve soil fertility and produce safer vegetables. Md. Sanaullah Azam, Upazila Assistant Plant Conservation Officer, emphasizes that more women are adopting these climate-adaptive techniques, leading to the production of safer, healthier vegetables and other crops, with increasing demand.
