Campaign Materials for Family Farmers

The campaign is addressed to family farmers and develops a set of Community Radio Fact Sheets (FS) covering six themes on resilient family farming: 1) Economics and Food Systems; 2) Biodiversity, Environment, and Culture; 3) Gender and Youth; 4) Health and Nutrition; 5) Sanitation and Safety; and 6) Policies, Services, and Organization. Campaign materials are in the form of Community Radio Fact Sheets (FS) that can be translated to Public Service Announcements (PSAs) using the preferred treatment and language of participating community radio stations.

Biodiversity, Culture and Environment

FS 1:  Family farmers are custodians of biodiversity
THEME: Biodiversity, Culture and Environment

Through their practices such as diverse cropping systems and use of organic fertilizers, family farmers
managed to increase their production and at the same time conserve the land, preserve natural
resources, and protect plants and animals.

FS 2:  Family farmers mitigate climate change through indigenous farming practices
THEME: Biodiversity, Culture and Environment

Family farmers are among the pioneers of agroforestry which bridges agriculture, forest, and/or
livestock. This benefits all species, increases yield, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Hence, this
leads to increase in crop production, environmental protection, and mitigation of climate change.

Family farmers suffer from COVID-19 induced problems, so it is understandable for them to feel
worried and anxious. The WHO has recommendations to manage such concerns.

safety protocols, family farmers should also make sure that the information they are sharing with
